Revisiting Catch

STEPHANIE SCHOBER & DANCE COMPANY
BETWEEN SOUND AND SILENCE
TUESDAY 26- WEDNESDAY 27 FEBRUARY, 8PM
PURCELL ROOM, SOUTHBANK CENTRE, LONDON

Catch, this is the piece I have ever performed with the longest life. In contemporary dance, a piece does not have very long life. We create and rehearse a work spending a few month with lots of sweat, tears (sometimes) and definitely thoughts, then we get to perform it in front of the public once, or if you are lucky twice... I should be proud that we have performed this piece during the two seasons, probably this is the 12th and 13th performance. We have two days at Southbank Centre, this time. Unless you are in a big company, this is quite a record, I think! I have been saying that I am not as excited as a time we show a new work, but I should change my opinion. This is a new experience for me to perform a same work so many time for so long time. The first performance of Catch was May 2006. So nearly two years, we have been performing this. We have a performance booked at Laban in July, so it will be more than two years. Wow.
I feel easy about this piece. I don't think about it too much, I don't worry about it too much. I feel a bit bad about feeling easy, but probably that's what it is, to perform a same piece for a long time. I still enjoy performing this so much, and it is an interesting work. I hope my body, rather than my brain, remembers all the experiences with the piece, and it makes the performance richer. I just relax and let a miracle happen...
